What do people say about Restore Balance Pilates?
Pilates helps me to achieve and maintain balance in my body, it raises my awareness of connections between different parts of the body and muscle groups and helps me to tune into my breathing. At the end of a class I feel invigorated and have always learned something about my body.
Rachel is the ‘Pilates teacher par excellence’. She communicates clearly and effectively, with a great sense of humour, demonstrating when desirable, and is constantly vigilant, pacing the class to the needs of the individuals in the group. Angela Stafford, Leadership Coach and Careers ConsultantI go around shouting to anybody who will listen that Pilates saved my life! I think it is something that can stand you in good stead in all sorts of situations, and when you least expect it. The earlier you begin it, the more the carefully-learned strengthening of the core muscles can become instinctive. I fell off a chair and fractured a vertabra in my back as I hit the floor. I realised something was very wrong but still had the sense to tighten the core muscles as I tried to get up from the floor, which helped me not do more damage as I moved.
I have worked with several Pilates teachers over the years, and so recognise a good one when I find one and Rachel Bish is one of those. I am in quite a large and popular class but always feel I am receiving individual attention. Rachel is calm, good-humoured, concentrated, of course takes the time to know if students have any particular injury. Some teachers teach from the front of the class but Rachel is a hands-on teacher - pressure on one of your shoulders to remind you to straighten; pulling a leg to the correct angle as she passes - all make a big difference. I would highly recommend her to new students or experienced ones. Barbara Ewing, Actress Writer
After dancing for fifteen years my body was very broken down. I had badly injured my both calfs and my right shoulder and was in constant pain. I found Pilates and it's now as important as eating and sleeping to me. After years in constant pain I'm now free to live an active life again, without pain as long as I keep doing it about twice a week. I don't need it more than that, it's not a lot of time invested to have such an amazing result. It also reduces the pain in my neck and shoulders which is caused by my, as so many others, always a little too busy life. The reduced pain makes me have less migraine attacks which the doctors found was partly triggered by me carrying too much tension in my shoulders. It has also helped me a lot with my breathing. As a former dancer, I had focused so much on not showing my breathing that my teachers discovered I could go through more or less a whole routine without breathing. It's been hard to "Start breathing" again but Pilates made it possible. Two hours of Pilates a week is more or less the reason I'm breathing through the rest of the week. Pilates has become the secret essence of my life... Which I really can't live without! A bonus is that it's all the workout I need to keep my body at least look as fit as when I danced.
EdithRachel is an excellent teacher. She has a very thorough and careful teaching style and I would not have any hesitation in recommending her for general strengthening pilates or for help with specific complaints.
Caroline MedawarAn excellent and very popular teacher. The only drawback is that there is competition to get into her classes so you have to turn up early!
