.It is believed that Joseph Pilates created six principles for his method.  These principles; concentration, control, centring, flowing movement, breathing and precision form the foundation of how we teach.  This means that Pilates should deepen your mind body connection.  We treat every client as an individual, increasing flexibility, creating strength and aiding relaxation, where necessary.  This means clients should gain a greater understanding of their strengths and weaknesses.

Pre and Postnatal Pilates

Rachel has completed the Body Control Pilates Pregnancy and Postnatal Pilates course so is qualified to work with you through this very important time.  Doing Pilates during pregancy can help to support your body as it changes.  Every pregnancy is unique so working in a one to one environment will enable us to tailor your workout to your changing needs.

Posture and back care

Pilates can help to improve your posture.  Modern lifestyles mean that we are increasingly inactive, sitting for long periods of time.  The Pilates machines give a unique environment in which to counteract this, strengthening the muscles necessary to support good posture and lengthening the muscles which can hold us in a less than ideal posture.

Rehabilitation

If you are recovering from an injury we can work in conjunction with your medical practitioner to help you return to fitness.  Pilates is incredibly versatile particularly when using machines like the Reformer, Cadillac and Wunda Chair.  The springs make it possible to create a very targeted workout or to challenge you without placing undue strain on a recovering joint.

Sports Performance

Whatever your sport, golf, running or tennis, a targeted Pilates workout can help to increase strength and flexibility to improve your performance.  Sports can also place strain on particular joints or favour one side, Pilates can help to counteract any imbalances.
